Greek Goddess Tarot Art Notes: I have drawn the goddesses with variety in their appearance, which is both more inclusive and more correct. In the ancient world, as in the world today, people did not look only one way. And the goddesses may appear as and to whom they please.

Major Arcana

0 Khaos - Fool 2 Dione - HP 5 Mnemosyne - Hierophant

10 Moirai - Wheel 18 Nyx - Moon 20 Theia - Judgment

The goddesses selected for the Major Arcana are the most ancient ones for whom the Greeks had names, goddesses who preceded the famous Olympians. They are the primeval and elemental goddesses, the first born Protogenoi, and the elder goddesses, the Titanides, who first established civilization and the laws of time and nature.

Minor Arcana

Two of Arrows Nine of Arrows

Three of Cups Six of Cups

Six of Swords Seven of Swords

Two of Grain Five of Grain

The suits of the Minor Arcana are Arrows (Wands), Cups, Swords, and Grain(Pentacles). Each suit focuses on a particular Olympian goddess, and the cards describe her stories and powers. Artemis rules the suit of Arrows, Aphrodite the suit of Cups, Athene rules the Swords, and Demeter the suit of Grain.

Champion of Arrows Queen of Arrows

Companion of Cups Queen of Cups

Companion of Swords Queen of Swords

Child of Grain Companion of Grain

The court cards are Child, Champion, Companion, and Queen. The Child is for the young pure aspect of the goddess. The Champion is her most active or forceful aspect. The Companion card shows the goddess’s helpfulness and relationship to humanity. The Queen represents her ultimate divine nature and power.

Artemis and the Suit of Arrows:
Ace of Arrows

7 Chariot

I sing of Artemis, whose shafts are of gold… who delights in archery… Over the shadowy hills and windy peaks she draws her golden bow, rejoicing in the chase, and sends out grievous shafts. The tops of the high mountains tremble and the tangled wood echoes awesomely with the outcry of beasts.
Homeric Hymn to Artemis

She Who Delights In Arrows, Artemis Iokheaira, may send plague and sudden death or healing and miraculous cure with one of her far-reaching golden shafts. Her arrows carry her will. Her arrows represent her power. They are always shot with intention. They always find their mark.

Messages from the Ace of Arrows
Power dissipates without focus, and goes nowhere without aim. Use your power as you will. Heed not the judgments of others, but do understand consequences. Use your power. Use it or lose an opportunity for great things to come.
